5 Great Amsterdam Cheese Shops

Kaaskamer cheese shop in Amsterdam

Oh no, a listicle!

Well, Amsterdam has more than five great cheese shops, but you don’t really need to know and each and every one of them, so for now I comply with the dictates of the internet!

The following are indeed great establishments, and they are spread out around the city so that there is a good chance you’ll be staying near one of them.

I’ll probably add and remove shops over time to keep it fresh and democratic.

If you own a great Amsterdam cheese shop that is not on this list and you’d like to featured, simply drop me a line – rory@dutchcheesetasting.com.

Drum roll please….

The Loekie family have been in cheesemongers in Amsterdam since the 1880s, so there’s quite a tradition there. That first shop was in the Jordaan, they had one in more recent times on the Utrechtsestraat and this one is not that far from there on Ceintuurbaan.

An absolute Amsterdam classic of a cheese shop. Slap bang in the middle of the famous 9 Streets, they have a beautiful selection of Dutch cheeses, sandwiches to go, wines, and other goodies.

Address: Maasstraat 118, 1078 HN, Amsterdam
Nearby Hotels: Victorie, Nhow, Novotel

Our cheese tastings take place here because it is my personal favourite (and not vice versa!). It’s also the Netherland’s only all-organic deli.

This is in Amsterdam Zuid (South) and accessible via Metro 52, Tram 4, a nice walk, or a bike ride.

You’ll also find fancy French cheeses here, and other goodies, but they also have a fine selection of Dutch cheeses, and great wines too.

Fromaggerie Kef

Address: Marnixstraat 192

They actually now have three locations around Amsterdam. The one listed here is on the western outskirts of the centre. You’ll also find French cheeses here too in addition to Dutch.
